It’s A Family Thing
June 17, 2016
Let's be honest, how many of us say we are disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ but don't recognize the immense magnitude of what being a disciple truly means? Being a disciple of Jesus Christ means that you recognize that God is your Heavenly Father and you acknowledge that you have been adopted into the royal family.
Romans 8:14-17 says, "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together."
When you understand that you are adopted into the family of the Lord Jesus Christ, and you understand that your adoption makes you a direct heir and joint-heir, then, you will understand why, "It's a Family Thing."
I'm sure most of us have read or heard of fairy tale stories about a king and his kingdom. The story sometimes goes on to tell about and describe all the royalties that the prince, princess and people in the kingdom have the opportunity to experience daily. But do you realize you have the same royalties extended to you? You're probably wondering, "How do I have royalties of a kingdom at my disposal?" Well, the answer is very simple; the Kingdom of God is within you.
Luke 17:20-21: "And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for behold, the kingdom of God is within you." (KJV)
That's right the Kingdom of God is within you, it's within us! What does that mean? It means that you have been equipped with power and God-given authority is on the inside of you; recognize it. You are a part of the royal family. Just as the kings in the fairytales, have guards and warriors that will fight and battle for the king, we have the same with the angels in heaven who will fight on your behalf. It is important for you to know what you have on the inside of you. Having the power on the inside of you is more than just saying you have the power, it's about fully understanding what you are equipped with and what you can do. I know you're questioning, "How do I have that kingdom type of power on the inside to defeat the enemy?" Well, that answer is a very simple one found in 1 John and Philippians.
1 John 4:4 says, "Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
Philippians 4:13 says, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
That means you, yes you, have the power to command the enemy to leave you alone. You have the power to go get your stuff, your things that enemy has tried to hold captive. When situations come into your life, you have the power to command the mountain to be moved but you have to activate your power! However, out of all the power that you possess, you have to have faith and believe it. For example, if you are believing God for rain, then you must be prepared with your umbrella and rain boots because that is activating your faith. However, a beach towel and sunglasses, does not demonstrate faith at work. Faith moves God, and faith without works/demonstration does not produce. To KNOW your worth and KNOW whose you are, you have to activate your faith and watch the power manifest itself. This is the power that you have on the inside of you. Power is a God-given royalty granted to you when you answered the call and inherited the kingdom of God.
"When I answered the call?" The call I am referring to is the call of God, according to His purpose. That pulling and tugging on your heart you feel, is God calling you. You have to answer the call! Allow God to come into your life and fulfill you. Allow yourself to experience the Kingdom of God coming into your life.
Romans 8:28 says, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Are you answering or declining His call? Your response to the call determines if you're one of the chosen few. Matthew 22:14 (KJV) "For many are called, but few are chosen." It's easy for people to call on God when there is a storm in your life but when He is calling you for a purpose, are you answering?
Romans 8:14-17, makes us aware of being children of a king, heir of God and joint heirs of Christ. In other words, God is our father and Jesus is our brother! It's important to know your worth, know who you are, know the power you inherited, know the kingdom on the inside of you and the embedded royalties given to you. Answer the call before it stops ringing.
